I am a 40 years young behaviour analyst who, after 22 years in this field, is still amazed and excited when I get to support and witness kids and young people engaging in new perspectives and learning new skills that bring joy into their life. I get to be there as they take incredibly brave actions that help them connect with what they most value in life in the face of very real and present difficulties.

My own values are what guide both my professional and personal life and help keep me moving forward, even when those actions are difficult or painful.  I highly value learning and knowledge, all kinds of knowledge, for example poetic, musical, or historical, but especially learning in my own field of study, behaviour science.  I deeply value choice and believe freedom of choice is necessary for any individual to feel empowered to act for their own and others betterment. Above all else I value compassion, which I experience as empathy in action both towards myself and others.

I have substantial interest in and knowledge of Autism, having 25 years’ experience, both personally and professionally, working with neurodiverse children and young people. I am accepting, respectful, and frequently in awe of their differences, and am a passionate advocate for all neurodiverse learners. Neurodiverse people are my favourite people!

Having attained a Distinction in BPhil in Special Education: Autism (Children) in 2018, I am currently studying for an MSc Applied Behaviour Analysis and am a keen learner who has the drive and enthusiasm to strive to help others overcome barriers to reach their own potential.

I have extensive experience volunteering within the community and working within the school environment to support autistic young people and their parents, leading initiatives to connect peers socially, and am a certified PEERS® Social Skills for Adolescents provider.

It is my vision to ensure that neurodiverse children and young people enjoy learning, grow in confidence, and acquire the skills necessary to become the adults they aspire to be.
