Support and Therapy Groups

Act to Connect offers a number of support and therapy groups for Young Adults, Parents and Neurodiverse individuals.  Group therapy is an effective way to get support, learn new skills, and connect with fellow travellers.   All groups are online, held through Zoom. Group 1: Flexible and Supportive Parenting of Your Anxious Child

This group serves parents/caregivers raising children and adolescents with OCD, anxiety, or related issues who are interested in learning evidence-based strategies to support their children and who are willing to learn from and support each other as they go.  Parents will learn supportive communication, how to handle difficult emotions, and specific, effective strategies for reducing accommodation so that they may encourage brave behaviour in their children. Cost is £200 for six sessions; one or two parents may attend for this price.

Group 2: Anxiety Bosses

This group is tailored for children from 8 – 11/12 year olds experiencing and struggling with a lot of anxiety. The group runs for 6 weeks. The goals is that through games, art and a little bit of talking,  for the children to learn more about how their anxiety works and how to not let it boss them around.  The core principles and processes are drawn from a developmentally sensitive model of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) called the DNA-V.
